Lead FBI Agent in Whitmer Kidnapping Case is Arrested in Bizarre Domestic Abuse Case

The lead FBI agent in the Michigan Governor kidnapping case was himself arrested on Monday and charged with “assault with intent to do great bodily harm, less than murder,” according to a report by the Detroit News. Special Agent Richard Trask, 39, was arrested in Michigan by the Kalamazoo Country Sheriff’s Department in the parking lot of an Oshtemo Township grocery store.

The Detroit News reports:

An affidavit filed by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office in Kalamazoo County District Court said Trask’s wife had bloody lacerations to the right side of her head and “blood all over chest, clothing arms and hand,” as well as “severe” bruising to her neck and throat. She told police she and her husband had several drinks at a swingers’ party held at a hotel… just west of Kalamazoo. She added that she did not like the party and they argued about it on the way home.  Once they arrived home, Trask got on top of her in their bed and “then grabbed the side of her head and smashed it several times on the nightstand.” She attempted to grab his beard to free herself, and he began to choke her around the neck and throat with both hands, according to the affidavit. She ultimately grabbed Trask’s testicles, which ended the altercation.

The optics here couldn’t be worse for the FBI. Trask is directly involved in the FBI’s case against six men in Michigan for the alleged plot to kidnap and kill Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. That case itself is indirectly tied to the Jan 6 “Insurrection” case in Washington as outlined by a bombshell Revolver News report last month and amplified by Tucker Carlson on his Fox News evening show (also discussed at length on my blog here).

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer

The Michigan kidnapping case is in a more advanced stage than the “Insurrection” cases, thus the defense strategy employed in that case will provide a great deal of foreshadowing for things to come in the Jan 6 “Insurrection” cases. It has become apparent in recent weeks that defense attorneys in the Michigan case will be raising entrapment as a defense, claiming that the FBI went overboard, using at least a dozen FBI agents and regularly employing over-zealous tactics to pursue the six, relatively low-level operators, who were eventually arrested and charged with conspiracy. Richard Trask is the special-agent leading that group and his arrest will no doubt assist the defense in painting the picture of an FBI team that exercised poor judgment and ultimately stepped over the legal line of entrapment.

If the case against the alleged Michigan kidnappers falls apart, the “Insurrection” cases will immediately be placed in jeopardy. Accordingly, we should expect to see a lot of attention from the Radical Axis directed towards these cases in the months to come.

  1. Geez what has become of the FBI’s hiring criteria? I could do a better job with no training. Where do they find these thugs? On the street? Recently released prisoners? The DNC? Whatever happened to the tough recruitment we see in movies like Silence of the Lambs? PC and politics must have taken over this agency. Chris Wray needs to go!
